Marigot
Perched at the top of a sweeping 4,078 m² hillside estate overlooking Marigot and Grand Cul-de-Sac, Manoir Voltaire and Ti Voltaire form one of St. Barth’s most visionary architectural creations. Conceived by the owner and brought to life by architect Lorena Gabaldon—whose work blends Venezuelan sensitivity with a deep love for St. Barth—this exceptional double-villa estate is a bold tribute to art, nature, and contemporary design. Inspired by the purity and intention of Tadao Ando’s Casa Wabi, the property unfurls like a living sculpture, integrating influences from Lina Bo Bardi, Le Corbusier, Louis Kahn, and Oscar Niemeyer. Brutalist lines meet tropical modernism, where concrete, wood, and light interact to create a serene, almost meditative ambiance. At the heart of the design lies a remarkable architectural gesture: a long, floating gallery that shades and guides movement throughout the property. This covered passage blurs the boundaries between interior and exterior, a hallmark of modern Caribbean living. Vast openings frame the surrounding landscapes, flooding each space with ever-changing light and horizon views. The estate includes two independent villas—one with three bedrooms, the other with six, including a kids bedroom and staff bedrooms—both crafted with enduring materials chosen as much for their beauty as for their permanence. Bangkirai wood from Bali, iroko screens from the Congo, and meticulously poured concrete appear throughout, balanced by lush tropical vegetation that softens and anchors the structures in their natural environment. Outdoor living is celebrated everywhere. Two spectacular swimming pools—measuring 30 meters and 50 meters—stretch toward the sky, giving the impression of floating above Marigot Bay. A Japanese-inspired reflecting pool adds a contemplative touch, while multiple terraces, gardens, and open-air lounges invite long, sun-drenched afternoons and tranquil evenings under the stars. Crafted with respect for its environment, the estate integrates sustainable elements such as 120 solar panels, illustrating a commitment to self-sufficiency and harmony with the island. The result is a timeless retreat—architectural yet warm, artistic yet livable—where every detail reflects a deep collaboration between owner and architect. Manoir Voltaire and Ti Voltaire are more than villas: they are an immersive experience, a celebration of light, landscape, and design. A one-of-a-kind masterpiece where art meets island living.
